Gforce 2016

Scaling the mast

The Committee for Geelong is achieving its vision to develop the next generation of community leaders. Alumni of the Leaders for Geelong program, Barwon Community Leadership program and LEAD Barwon program have insight into the opportunities and issues affecting the region and great potential to address them.

Alumni stay connected through a program of events and activities devised by a small steering group.  They stay informed about the issues of the day, continue to develop personal leadership skills, contribute to committees and boards through Skills Bank, support local causes, and enjoy opportunities for social interaction.   Being an active alumnus means being empowered to work toward a successful future for the region. The Leaders Alumni has the strong endorsement and support of the Committee for Geelong.

Don't forget - Program places available

Two places are available for alumni at most leadership programs events.  If you missed a topic during your program or if you'd like a refresher on a topic of particular interest, please contact Simone McKenzie to reserve a place: email or ph. 5227 8591.

Come Inside Tours

The 'Come Inside' tours were introduced in 2014 as an opportunity for alumni to access and learn about Geelong's 'didn't know that was here' businesses, industries or features. Many of tour sites are restricted access areas or operations, so it provides alumni a chance for an exclusive experience. It also allows these businesses or industries to showcase their operations and how they fit into the Geelong picture.

Past tours include the Winchester range, Little Creatures Brewery, and the Centre for Intelligent Systems Research. The organisations appreciate the opportunity to share their local story, and alumni enjoy the learning experience, as well as a chance to catch up and network with each other. Tours are generally free of charge and run about three times a year. Any ideas for future tours are very welcome.
