MEDIA RELEASE

The Committee for Geelong is delighted to announce Ms Elaine Carbines AM as the recipient of the Committee for Geelong Leadership Award for 2020. This award reflects a strategic objective of the Committee for Geelong to deliver a collective voice and leadership.

This Annual Leadership Award provides an opportunity to independently recognise and celebrate leadership in the Geelong community and is a decision of the Committee for Geelong’s Board.

“Elaine has been an outstanding contributor to the Geelong community and has been an exemplar in showing through her actions the key tenets of leadership,” said Committee for Geelong Chair, Clive Pugh.

“Listening is one of Elaine’s hallmark leadership traits to balance an argument in addition to her openness and honesty in communication with others.  Her collaborative style of leadership has yielded much success for the causes that Elaine has supported in her most recent role as the CEO of G21 Geelong Region Alliance and in her previous roles as parliamentary representative and educator,” he said.

Ms Carbines will receive the award at the upcoming Leaders for Geelong Graduation and Annual Leadership Award Night to be held at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday 18March 2021, where she will speak about her leadership journey.

“I am honoured to be the recipient of the Committee for Geelong’s Annual Leadership Award for 2020.  I would like to thank the Committee for my nomination and look forward to joining the 2019-20 Leaders for Geelong graduates to celebrate their success,” Ms Carbines said.

Ms Carbine’s leadership at the G21 Geelong Region Alliance has enhanced the reputation of the region and yielded significant results for the long term. “Politics has never been the motivation for Elaine, it was always doing the best for the people of Geelong,” said Mr Pugh.

The 2019 recipient of the Annual Leadership Award was Geelong Football Club Chief Executive, Brian Cook.
