Over the course of two days, the “class of 2019-20” Leaders for Geelong (LfG) cohort attended the Committee for Geelong’s Annual Leadership Breakfast and opening residential.

The leadership discussion kicked-off and ignited rapidly upon hearing City of Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Sally Capp, quote Edward Everett Hale:

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.”

Inspired by Sally’s passionate presentation about leadership, it motivated the 31 LfG participants to ask themselves in introspect:

“What does good leadership look like?”

“What are my values?”

“What can I do to help Geelong grow?”

The opening residential offered the group exposure to some of the region’s finest calibre of leaders. The group realised that there’s always new things to learn about Geelong and there are many choices available of initiatives and ideas to become involved with. Each “one” of us can make a difference and by supporting each other to have a go, the future is bright for the LfG “class of 2019-20.”
