Statement from the Committee for Geelong CEO Jennifer Cromarty

“The Committee for Geelong has been working closely with State Members of Parliament and the Victorian Government bureaucracy over the past few weeks providing ideas and feedback as this package has been developed.

“We welcome the State Government’s announcements today which are the start of a comprehensive support package for business. Many businesses are doing it tough but are committed to their staff and ensuring they are part of the recovery process in a COVID Normal economy.

“The Committee for Geelong looks forward to reviewing the new business package in more detail and working with government to continue to provide advice and feedback in a constructive way.

“In the coming weeks, the Committee for Geelong will release a new Independent research report via Deakin University – ‘Resilient Geelong: Recipes for Success and Challenges for a Post-COVID-19 Future.’

“Resilient Geelong will aim to inform a range of programs and actions for Geelong as we face a COVID normal future.

“We wish to particularly recognise the advocacy and engagement from the Member for Geelong Christine Couzens who has been tireless in her efforts to listen to business and community during this time.“
