Committee for Geelong has appointed Kate Coghlan as Interim Chief Executive Officer as the organisation enters its 25th year and begins the next chapter of its work as the independent voice for Future Geelong.
Committee for Geelong Chair Rebecca Bartel said the appointment came at an important time for both the organisation and the region.
“Geelong is among the fastest-growing regions in Australia. Committee for Geelong has a responsibility, as the independent voice for Future Geelong, to look beyond economic and political cycles and remain focused on the major projects needed to ensure our region grows well, not just fast.
“Kate brings significant experience in regional advocacy and public affairs, along with a deep understanding of Geelong and strong relationships across business, government and the community.
“Her appointment provides continuity and momentum while the Board undertakes its recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive Officer later in the year. We are delighted to welcome her to the organisation.”
Ms Coghlan said she was honoured to join the Committee for Geelong as it entered its next 25 years.
“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to play a role in Geelong’s future through Committee for Geelong.
“For 25 years, the Committee has championed the big picture thinking which has made Geelong one of Australia’s great places to live, work and invest.
“As the Committee enters its next chapter, I look forward to listening to our members, understanding their priorities, and drawing on the best evidence to champion the projects that will drive productivity and help Geelong grow well for the next generation.”
