The Committee for Geelong announced the 2024 Frank Costa Leadership Award recipient Dan Simmonds last night at the inaugural Future Geelong Leadership Awards.
Deputy Chair Rebecca Bartel presented the award in front of 100 VIPs at the award event held at 1915, Federal Mills.
Dan Simmonds accepted the award from Scotland via video message saying he was 'thrilled and honoured to be the 2024 recipient' and said he has always 'strived to achieve the best possible outcomes' both in his professional role as a lawyer and in his community work for the region.
Dan Simmonds is the Barwon Health Foundation and Kardinia Health chair, Rosemary Norman Foundation trustee and Professionals with Alzheimers board member.
He sits on company boards in industries including radio broadcasting, transport and logistics and timber and hardware supply.
Mr Simmonds was chair of the Committee for Geelong from 2013 to 2019, judging panel chair of the Geelong Business Excellence Awards for 10 years and has been involved in the Geelong Community Foundation, Geelong Law Association, St Laurence Community Services and Old Geelong Collegians Association.
The Committee for Geelong are proud to recognise Dan Simmonds for his commitment to our community and region, and look forward to congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition in person.
Since 2010, the Committee for Geelong has awarded the Annual Leadership Award to a leader of significance in our community. The inaugural Annual Leadership Award that year was bestowed upon Frank Costa AO, for his services to the Geelong community.
The Annual Leadership Award was renamed the Frank Costa Annual Leadership Award in 2021, in recognition of Frank Costa’s legacy and leadership in the Geelong community, and remembers him as one of the Committee for Geelong’s founders 20 years ago.
END.
